Junior Cycle

Coláiste Dún an Rí currently only offers the Junior Cycle Programme.

 

The Junior Cycle Programme incorporates the existing Junior Cycle and the New Junior Cycle Schools Award.

The Junior Cycle subject provision constists of Core and Elective subjects.

 

Core Subjects

All students study the following subjects in Junior Cycle

Irish

English

Maths

French

Science

Geography

History

Religious Education

Physical Education

CSPE

SPHE

Career Guidance

 

Elective Subject

​

Students are required to choose three subjects from the following list to study for Junior Cycle

Art

Business

Home Economics

Materials Technology (Wood)

Metal Work

Music

Technical Graphics

 

Students will sit a maximum ten subjects for the Junior Cycle examination

 

Transition Year

​

A Transtition Year Programme is currently being devised. The Transition Year Programme will be offered from 2019 and will be compulsory for all students for the first year of its existance.

For subsequent years the Transition Year Programme will be an optional programme for students with a defined selection process.

 

Leaving Certificate Programme

​

The Leaving Certificate Programme will be offered in Coláiste Dún an Rí from 2020. We are currenlty planning towards offering the following curriculum:
