Junior Cert Science

The new Junior Cycle science course will be introduced in September 2016. New features of this course include learning outcomes across 5 main areas:

Nature of Science

Physical world
-
Chemical world
-
Biological world
-
Earth and space.
​
There is a new focus given to the Nature of science which aims to promote greater engagement and thinking about how science works; carrying out investigations, communicating in science, and the role and contribution of science and scientists to society. There are also new assessments which offer students a chance to demonstrate their achievement as creators of scientific research reports.

All students will be encouraged to participate in science competitions such as the ‘BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition’ and ‘Scifest’ to enhance their understanding of the Nature of Science.
